Then all of a sudden your favorite channel starts making these lam "omg 2spoopy" vids and focuses less on caving and more on ghost hunting. Imagine being a guy who just likes to watch cave exploration vids/reviews about caving equipment. If people easily and/or quickly determine it to be fake, he's at risk of losing old subscribers who aren't interested in this kind of thing. On top of that, he also has to deal with being scrutinized to a high degree. To keep or even gain new subs from this new audience, he has to start making more spoopy cave vids or that audience he has now attracted will lose interest. Obviously this vid has attracted a lot of attention, but it's not from people interested in him fucking around in caves. The question basically comes down to intent: does releasing a fake benefit him in some way? With enough time, you can create some pretty authentic looking fakes.
